Overview
Writing works cited entries is now quite a bit easier when following the new guidelines of the MLA Handbook (8th edition). While there are a lot of examples provided throughout this MHS quick guide, they generally follow the same basic format (outlined below).
To cite a source, you need to determine what information is provided to you. If the source does not provide an element listed below, you simply do not include it in your works cited entry. Most works cited entries end up being relatively short because of this! List what you have. Skip what you don't have. Move on to the next piece of information.
